My Bucket List – Part 2

Ok, so in the previous bucket list I wrote I only made it up to three points.

Now I have a very long bucket list of things I want to do before I die so maybe I should go through it one day and skim it down.

But then again, why limit yourself? Who is to say that a bucket list is “too long”? What is too long? What if I actually achieve it all, have I not underestimated myself then?

I have posted a start of my bucket list on one of my travel blogs, but here are a few other things that I have not posted on there yet:

So one of the things I want to do before I die is to travel to every continent in the world, I have traveled to a lot of countries, but far from all continents.

So far I have only visited four continents, and since Morocco is the only country in Africa I do not really feel that it counts.

Another thing I want to do is become a paid travel show host, I have a strong passion for travel and I feel like I am developing some charisma as well in front of camera.

I just read through someone elses bucket list who came with the idea of being an extra in a film.

I used to want to be a movie star, but today I would be happy being an extra.

It would have been so much fun to be one of the elfs or orchs in Lord Of The Ring, and just getting an idea of what it is really like to shoot a movie would be a cool experience.

I had the chance to be an extra last year when I was working on a travel blog in Thailand, but things just never fitted with our schedule, so it never happened.

But if it has happened once, then I am sure it will happen again!

Are Premium Economy Airlines Seats Really Worth It?

As part of the Deals-on-Travel.co.uk travel team, I often receive emails asking questions about either British Airways or Virgin Atlantic Airlines premium economy seats in comparison to regular economy seats. In other words, is it worth paying the extra money for premium economy? The short answer is “maybe”, let me explain.

I’ve heard people complaining about the cost at the time of booking as they hand over their hard earned cash to the travel agent for their Premium Economy seats. However, I think it would be fair to say that I doubt too many complain on the day of their flight.

In my experience, I’ve found that Virgin Atlantic premium economy is a better product than its British Airways counterpart. So, I’ll discuss The Virgin Atlantic offering from here on.

Before you even get on board the plane, you can experience the first advantage of flying premium economy when you first arrive at the airport; at the check in there will be a separate desk for premium economy, so you’ll be able to avoid those long economy cabin queues.

Once on board and although aircraft types differ, the most common plane that Virgin Atlantic use on their US routes is the Boeing 747. Usually on the 747, the main premium economy cabin is upstairs, which is where other airlines seat their business class passengers. The advantage of this is that its a small comfortable space having somewhere in the region of 40 seats. So, you’ll immediately notice that you’re not sitting amongst three hundred other people, so the noise levels are considerably lower. The seats are bigger, not hugely so, but definitely wider and the seat pitch, (the distance between the seats) is substantially longer. As far as I’m aware the food is the same but it’s served on slightly better trays, or at least that was my impression on my Orlando flight last month.

When it comes to landing, you are also allowed off the plane before the economy passengers and on entering the USA, where you can often spend an hour in line to clear immigration, that’s an important factor. Finally, when you’re through immigration, you should find that your bags are on a different baggage carousel as upper class and premium economy bags use a separate carrousel to Virgin Holidays economy passengers, so your bag should be available for collection more quickly.

So back to the original question, is it worth the extra money. Well, if you can comfortably afford the extra 50% to 60% you’ll be paying for the privilege of flying premium economy then the answer is a resounding YES. I fly to the states about three time each year and whenever I can, I fly premium economy.

I spent a few months in Argentina when I was in college and I loved it. Now, ten years later, I decided that Buenos Aires would be the perfect vacation destination for my wife and I to visit for a couple of weeks (we’re from the US and we always flock to the summer for a few weeks every winter). Once I started planning the trip I became so excited, and I was disappointed with myself that I hadn’t been back for so long! I would be with my wife this time around, so I decided to spring for a short-term rental, as this time I was financially able and I remembered all the amazing Buenos Aires real estate from my previous trip. The French architecture, the fun artisan fairs, and Recoleta cemetery were all fond memories I had in this neighborhood, but this time I was looking for something a little more authentic. Many of the countries in South America, but especially Argentina, have been revitalized with new infrastructures, and the progress of the nation is very noticeable only ten years later. This trip to Buenos Aires was one of our favorite trips we’ve taken. The is beautiful city is teeming with life 24/7, and captivating those who allow it. I can’t wait for my next visit to South America!

Thinking About a Ski Vacation This Summer

Our tenth anniversary is coming up this August and I am thinking of incorporating it into our vacation, perhaps doing something special. Since Aggie loves to ski I had thought that perhaps I could take her skiing in South America. However it would be better if there was a 5 star hotels in the resort. I know a bit about skiing in Vail and Park City, but nothing much of ski resorts in Chile or Argentina. I would obviously like some place with first class rooms, services and ski slopes. A friend of mine from work was saying something about a place that was relatively close to Buenos Aires, Argentina, but he could not remember the name of the place. It sounded like something very similar to what I am looking for. It would be great if there were other things to see, and I understand that Buenos Aires is a very historic city with lots of sights to tour.

I just moved to Texas with my family. I am eighteen and could have stayed where we were but I didnt like the thought of my family being half way across the country from me. So I came along. What I didnt know when I moved here is that a lot of people speak Spanish. There are a lot of jobs that are available here but a lot of them require you to be bilingual in Spanish and English.
